Sorry for such a short notice but I was notified this morning that we have been accepted into Dance Chicago’s Dance Slam! The show is THIS Saturday November 3rd at 8pm. The address is 2936 N. Southport Ave. Chicago, IL 60657. There is street parking available as well as pay to park in a lot. This is such an awesome opportunity for the dancers :) This particular program is run a little differently than you may be used to.
“The award-winning interactive dance competition with a non-stop beat! Each work is five minutes or less and the audience votes for the winners!”
“THE AUDIENCE VOTES ON YOUR PERFORMANCE. THE AREAS OF EVALUATION ARE CHOREOGRAPHY, TECHNIQUE AND PRODUCTION. WE WILL LIST THE TOP 15 WINNERS IN EACH CATEGORY ON THE WEBSITE AFTER THE EVENT. THE TOP TOTAL POINT WINNER IS CONSIDERED THE RECIPIENT OF THE ANNUAL DANCE SLAM AWARD. THIS IS AN AUDIENCE VOTE ONLY AND DOES NOT REPRESENT THE OPINION OF THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR.”
Think of it as a dance competition for highly artistic studios. The more people we have in attendance to vote the better :)
Dancers are required to show up to the theater at 5:30 to begin warmup, with their tech rehearsal from 6-6:20. When dropping off your dancer please enter only via stage door on the south side of the theatre on Oakdale. (Do not enter the front of the theatre, you will not be able to get to the auditorium this way.) After tech your dancer is dismissed for food but please have them back to the theater no later than 7:30 so that they have time get ready for the performance by 8. The venue has very strict rules, EVERYONE must purchase a ticket if they plan on watching the show. This includes myself and the dancers performing. They have been generous to provide us with discount codes for adults ($21) and your dancer ($12).
